  • 2023 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS

    Again this year, AVCP is again offering four $500 scholarships to high school seniors living in Mt. Penn Borough, Lower Alsace Township or St. Lawrence Borough. The focus of the scholarship is community service.

    Also, the Kerry Hoffman/Antietam Pride Scholarship is available to Antietam High School seniors who have demonstrated  pride in the Antietam School District.

    A copy of the scholarship applications may be obtained from the guidance offices of Antietam Middle-Senior High School, Exeter High School, or Berks Catholic High School, or can be downloaded here:

  • NOTICE – CARSONIA PARK CLOSING

    Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Mt. Penn Borough Municipal Authority (MPBMA), has CLOSED the Carsonia Park multi-use field, playground, hockey/volleyball & basketball courts for Public safety. The Crystal Lake walking trail will remain open. Please use caution and exercise with appropriate “social distancing”. Keep safe. All will be reopened when deemed safe. We apologize for this inconvenience.

    Again this year, the Antietam Valley Community Partnership is offering four $500 scholarships to high school seniors living in Mt. Penn Borough, Lower Alsace Township or St. Lawrence Borough. The focus of the scholarship is community service. A copy of the scholarship application may be obtained from the guidance offices of Antietam Middle-Senior High School, Exeter High School, or Berks Catholic High School, or can be downloaded from this web site. The deadline for submission is Sunday April 9, 2017. Finalists will be invited to interview with the AVCP scholarship committee. Interviews will be held in the Antietam district office.

  • CARSONIA PARK

    GRANT AWARD

    Great news for our community! The Recreation Commission of the Antietam Valley was awarded over $277,000 in grant funding to expand and redevelop Carsonia Park, following the Master Plan completed last year.

    Thanks to all of you who have been supporting AVCP’s work to raise funds to support the Master Plan—at our last meeting we pledged $20,000 for park improvements, bringing the total raised by AVCP to $33,000, which, in addition to funds provided by Mount Penn, Lower Alsace and the Water Authority, helped make up the match funding that made these applications possible.

  • MASTER PLAN

    MASTER PLAN

    Thanks to some very hard work by citizens and organizations in our community, including AVCP, we now have a Master Plan for the restoration of Carsonia Park and Crystal Lake. The plan calls for a reorientation of several major features in the park, as well as improvements to parking facilities, the Recreation Building and Crystal Lake.
